A Waterfront Cottage We're Obsessed With

Perched right on the Chesapeake Bay, the cottage had the ultimate amenity: a beach just steps from the front door. Every morning started the same way—coffee in hand at 7am while the dogs bounded straight into the bay for their first swim of the day. Watching them splash around in the quiet morning light felt like the perfect reminder of why we love bringing them along on our travels.

For our city dogs, this was freedom in its purest form. The sprawling yard had no fences, no boundaries—just endless space to run, wrestle, and roll in the grass for hours. Seeing them live out their best “country dog” fantasy made us realize how much we appreciate these simple joys when we trade skyscrapers for open sky.

And for the humans? It was equally dreamy. Evenings meant sipping wine in Adirondack chairs with front-row seats to the sunset, grilling dinner under the pink-streaked sky, and ending the night with a cozy fire as the dogs curled up, happily exhausted from their day of adventure.

Trips like this remind us that travel with dogs doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes, it’s just about space to roam, a beach to dive into, and the chance to enjoy the little things together.
