Real Food for Real Good Dogs
A typical day in their bowls.

One of the questions we get most often is: “What do you feed your dogs?”
The short answer? Real food.
About 90% of the time, Beso and Bailey eat home-cooked meals instead of traditional kibble. Unless we’re traveling or in a pinch, their bowls are filled with fresh, simple ingredients we feel good about serving. It’s not about being fancy or over-the-top – it’s about knowing exactly what’s going into their bodies and giving them meals we’d feel comfortable eating ourselves.
Today’s menu was a perfect example of our everyday approach:
- Jasmine rice
- Ground pork
- Broccoli
- Peas
- A dollop of Greek yogurt
- A spoonful of applesauce
- Fresh strawberries
Colorful, balanced, and made with love.
We try to keep things simple: a base grain, a lean protein, and a mix of dog-friendly vegetables. Then we’ll add a little “bonus topping” like yogurt or fruit to make it extra exciting. The girls get a nutritious, whole-food meal – and we get the satisfaction of watching them do their happy pre-dinner dance.
Feeding homemade isn’t about perfection. Some days it’s chicken and sweet potatoes. Other days it’s ground turkey and carrots. And yes, sometimes it’s a store-bought meal when life gets busy. But most of the time, we’re chopping, mixing, and scooping bowls right in our own kitchen.
Do our dogs realize how good they have it? Probably not.
Do they lick their bowls clean every single time? Absolutely.
If you’ve ever thought about adding more fresh food into your dog’s diet, start small. Even swapping one meal a week for something homemade can make a difference. And trust us – your pups will notice.
Bon appétit, fur friends 🐾
